The measures affect current and new pension beneficiaries.
- The sum of copyright royalties required for pension eligibility during the membership will be increased annually by CHF 500 from 2027 to 2032. This means that members with cumulative royalties of less than CHF 1’500 in 2027 will not receive a pension. For the following pension year 2028, the minimum royalty amount will be CHF 2’000. The cut-off date for calculating the cumulative royalties is always 31 December of the year preceding the pension year.
- The last tax assessment is decisive for the income. The retirement pension from ProLitteris will no longer be deducted from the income.
As has always been the case, the correct tax certificate must be submitted upon request by ProLitteris no later than 31.12. of the previous year. ProLitteris can no longer grant any exceptions to this deadline, which means that no later certificates are possible (equal treatment). For the 2027 pension year, the deadline ends on 31.12.2026.
The retirement pension remains unchanged in all other respects. The regulations of the welfare foundation are decisive. The annex is updated annually under the responsibility of the foundation board so that the calculation of the pensions for the coming year is defined and known.
These measures are necessary because pension obligations are increasing and income is stagnating. The foundation board reviews the financial situation annually. On this basis, we are confident that we will be able to finance the retirement pensions in the medium term.
In detail: Pension obligations are increasing year after year, with few interruptions. The total pension amount grew by almost 70% between 2015 (CHF 1’757’633) and 2024 (CHF 2’953’326). In 2025, the total pension amount grew again by 8%, and we expect a further increase of around 5% for 2026. The number of persons entitled to a pension has more than doubled in the last 10 years, from 344 (2015) to around 700 (2025).
