ProLitteris is the collecting society for literary and visual works in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. It manages usage rights, regulates royalties and supports the legally compliant application of copyright in practice.
Together with partners, ProLitteris implements the Swiss Copyright Act (CopA). The collecting society sets tariffs and grants licenses. The tariffs are approved by the Federal Arbitration Commission for the Management of Copyright and Related Rights (FAC). The Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) supervises the management.
ProLitteris ensures the correct use of protected works – clearly tariffed, legally well-founded and easy to understand.
All income is allocated appropriately and transparently to authors and publishing houses. The distribution rules define all distributions – under supervision and with regular adjustments to technical or social change.
Modern technologies support lean, reliable and digital handling of licensing and royalty processes. ProLitteris continuously develops the portal and the website.
As an interface between authors and users, ProLitteris provides well-founded information and promotes a shared understanding in dealing with intellectual property.
Through partnerships with foreign collecting societies, ProLitteris ensures that works are also protected and receive royalties across national borders.
ProLitteris promotes creative work and supports its members socially. The Welfare Foundation offers members financial emergency aid and grants retirement pensions in the case of long-standing affiliation. The Cultural Fund enables contributions to projects and organizations in literature and art.
